Needle Felting Kits

Needle felting kits can be a great way to learn the basics. Unlike many commercially available kits, my kits contain wool that is tried and true. With over eight years of experience I have made lots of purchasing mistakes, and finally landed on some companies that I can depend on to provide clean wool that felts well. The wool is clean, and felts well.

My kits are simply packaged. They all contain the wool needed along with a small sponge to use as a felting surface. While most kits include two needles of different sizes, the cookie cutter kits contain one needle-all that is necessary for creating these simple shapes.

Wildlife and animal kits are $30.00, and cookie cutter kits are $20.00.

I encourage you to add accessories to your finished sculptures. It is a great time to raid your craft drawer for ribbon, glitter and other fun additions.

I have a number of YouTube videos available to anyone. They are a great way to follow along while creating my small birds and animals. Just search Judy Zeke on YouTube to access my videos.

Wildlife kits include foxes, bears, beavers, raccoons and rabbits. The instructions have step by step photos to follow along. I create the fox on the YouTube video, but it is helpful for the creation of any of my little animals.

Bird kits include cardinals, blue jays, chickadees and robins. Photos are not included, but my YouTube video gives follow along instructions and shows the creation of the cardinal.

Santa and gnome kits include everything that you need to create a unique little character. The shape is created by winding strips of core wool around a wooden skewer, included in the kit. The Youtube video is very helpful, especially when attaching the beard. All of the finished characters are unique and charming! You add your own accessories to make your sculpture unique.

Cookie cutter kits are the most basic way to begin. Unlike the wildlife and bird kits they contain one needle, some awesome carded wool in assorted colours, a little sponge felting surface, some embroider thread for hanging, and a metal cookie cutter. Availability will vary. There are no instructions included, but there is a YouTube video explaining the technique. These kits are great for adults who would like a stress free introduction to felting, or for patient children who enjoy slow crafting.

Felting needles are sharp, so care needs to be taken when felting. Everyone gets poked now and again. I always tell people that it hurts a lot…but not for very long!
